I am Michael and we of the Council of Light come to you at this time to speak on one of the vital aspects of the spiritual warrior¹. In the process of aligning with the Will of the Divine, it is necessary to learn and enhance many skills. Discernment is paramount in this time of change, for illusion has ruled this realm for many ages and it clings even now to fears so prevalent in the dying paradigm.

First, let us explain that there is an immense difference between discernment and what you term judgment. Many equate these terms and use them interchangeably; therefore, we must make the distinction. Judgment that stems from the ego is the act of placing another beneath yourself. Those who judge from the shadow ego often do so to hide from an aspect of self that brings discomfort. This is not the subject of our discussion today.

We are here to speak of a quality that, when nurtured and utilized, serves to strengthen every aspect of the path walked by the spiritual seeker. Without discernment, it is vastly more difficult to move beyond the level of beginner. Those who seek to evolve to adept, to apprentice and finally to master learn and practice the art of discernment.

There are many paths toward enlightenment, and the first goal of any seeker is to find the path or paths that speak to your soul. Through the gift of free will, humanity has a multitude of options, and you may choose to explore many avenues along the way. Your spirit does not prescribe the method you use to fulfill your soul’s purpose but rather connects you to that purpose itself.

Discovering the soul’s purpose—whatever that may be—provides a stabilizing force in your life. The soul purpose becomes a touchstone for beginning to discern. You may ask yourself in each situation, “Does this align with my soul’s purpose?”

Anchoring in your soul’s purpose, therefore, is the first and foremost aspect of discernment. But there is much more.

Discernment is a tool that relies on wisdom from both the intuitive and the logical mind. Humanity was created with both aspects and a true blending of both is a great gift for any spiritual aspirant. Discernment links the intuitive with the sensible and, beyond this, connects both sides of the mind with the energetic or higher senses, which is wherein the deepest wisdom lies.

The higher senses, gifts of your Higher Self, are beginning to awaken in many across the planet. For those in the Order, the Higher Senses are linked inexorably to your inner Sword of Light. Learning to wield that sword with love and discernment is vital to your journey here on earth.

Your Sword of Light is directly connected to your spiritual essence, or Higher Self and is, therefore, a primary means for awakening your higher senses at the conscious level. It is essential to learn to cut through the detritus in any situation or issue, to recognize and transmute the darkness and fear within and around you, to clarify your own intentions to manifest Light, to connect more fully to your soul purpose so that you can fulfill your mission and much more.

Meditate upon that Sword of Light; integrate it into your consciousness. Let its resonance in harmony with that of my own Sword be your guide. Seek to act wisely and honor truth.

We ask you not to walk blindly in the world. Be diligent in recognizing the darkness² so that you may release its hold upon your own life and begin to journey in joy and bliss. We invite you to deepen your awareness energetically and intuitively and to broaden your knowledge. This is a time of great learning as humanity begins to evolve. Until you merge completely back into the heart of God from whence all life came, there is always more to learn. Make conscientious efforts to raise your consciousness in greater and greater alignment with the Light of Source. Know that we are here to illuminate this path along with you and assist you in embracing the skills and talents that come forth from the Light.

The most vital reason for discernment at this time is to detect truth from falsehood and recognize what is Light and what is shadow. Because there is much energy for enlightenment coming into the earth plane during these times, the darkness which seeks to strengthen and entrench the old paradigm reacts in opposition to bring greater discord and chaos by any means possible. Discernment is especially called for when the Darkness² masquerades as Light³. We ask those who stand with the Light to be aware and be able to detect the difference in order to avoid being led in a direction that is out of alignment with your progress toward wholeness and higher consciousness.

In your own channeling, reach beyond the lower vibrational levels, beyond the astral plane, for higher guidance. When you seek channeled wisdom through others, look deep into the message and also open your awareness to the vibration and the spirit behind that message. Look beyond the casual observation, beyond the name, the renown, the acclaim, the surface, at the energy associated with each message. Come to know and easily identify the Light³, its resonance, in order to reach a level of discernment that can guide you to wisdom, teachings and teachers who will honor your highest good.

So we ask you to develop your inner knowing, to learn to connect with your Higher Self, your spiritual essence, as you journey through this world now and in years to come. We ask you also to come together for the purposes of connecting with the Light through group consciousness. You are not alone in the challenges you face, and your brothers and sisters of Light have much to share with you as you support one another in this process of enlightening all.

The Council and I are by your side. We see the upheaval and chaos and assist as we can, making certain to allow free will to take precedence as part of the Divine Plan for humanity. We depend on you to hold the Light with us. For you are the ones who made the choice to walk upon the Earth and expand the Light into the darkened corners of the mind, the heart, the soul of humanity. You traverse the existence of human life. We invite you to do so with your whole heart, with ultimate compassion for yourselves and others, and with a strong sense of discernment that will guide you toward wholeness.

Shine, dear souls, for you are greatly loved. I am Michael and so it is.

²When Michael speaks of the Darkness, he means anything in the Universe or any part of ourselves that does not recognize itself as part of the Oneness that is God.
